On October 21, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Djibouti's Foreign Minister Omar in Beijing.
Wang Yi stated that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China Kyrgyzstan relations have maintained a healthy and stable development momentum. The political mutual trust between the two sides has deepened, and cooperation in various fields has benefited the people of Kyrgyzstan. The important experience of the development of China Kyrgyzstan relations is equal treatment, mutual trust, and mutual support. China appreciates Kyrgyzstan's adherence to the One China principle and hopes that Kyrgyzstan will continue to provide firm support on issues related to China's core interests.

Wang Yi said that China attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan and is willing to further deepen practical cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. Both sides need to fully utilize both aspects. One is to fully leverage the positive effects of the zero tariff policy, and the other is to fully utilize Djibouti's geographical advantages. China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Djibouti, taking the construction of the Addis Ababa Djibouti Railway Prosperity Belt as an opportunity to help Djibouti leverage its comprehensive infrastructure advantages and build a regional hub for commerce, logistics, and connectivity.
Wang Yi stated that China and Kyrgyzstan share the same position on major international and regional issues, advocate the concept of multilateralism, adhere to non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, support the unity and self-improvement of southern countries, and accelerate development and revitalization. Currently, the ongoing Middle East conflict is spreading to the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, with new and old conflicts erupting one after another, posing new threats to the safety of shipping routes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Since the beginning of this year, the President of the People's Republic of China has put forward four principles for constructive participation in resolving hotspot issues in Africa, and put forward a series of initiatives to promote peace and security in the Middle East, demonstrating China's responsible role as a major country and responding to the peace aspirations of the people in the region. China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan and other countries to strengthen communication and cooperation, and is committed to easing the situation and effectively maintaining regional peace and stability.
Omar conveyed President Guelleh's warm greetings to the President, stating that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Djibouti has always developed its relationship with China based on the principles of mutual trust and respect for each other's core interests, and is willing to further enrich the connotation of its comprehensive strategic partnership with China. The Jilin side has consistently adhered to the One China principle and highly appreciates the President's concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind and a series of initiatives to solve regional problems, especially the insistence on African people solving African problems. Kyrgyzstan appreciates China's contribution to promoting lasting world peace and is pleased to become a founding member of the International Mediation Institute. Kyrgyzstan and China have broad consensus on adhering to the purposes of the United Nations Charter and peacefully resolving disputes, and are willing to strengthen communication and dialogue with China on international issues.
After the meeting, the foreign ministers of the two countries issued a joint press release on maintaining peace and stability in the Horn of Africa and ensuring the security of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden waterways, and signed a memorandum of understanding between the government of the People's Republic of China and the government of the Republic of Djibouti on jointly promoting cooperation in global security initiatives.Editor/Min Jing
