On the vast Gobi Desert, wind and solar power stations are spreading out one after another, and this power transmission artery extending from Bazhou to Mianyang has finally received approval. The relevant departments are synchronously promoting the processing of supporting power grid procedures to match the rhythm of the power base and transmission channels, and to steadily deliver clean electricity from the desert to the Sichuan Chongqing load center.

Channel Overview
The Xinjiang Southern Xinjiang Power Transmission Sichuan Chongqing Ultra High Voltage DC Project starts from Bayingolin Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang and ends in Mianyang, Sichuan, with a total length of 1995.6 kilometers and a total investment of about 30.6 billion yuan. It is expected to start construction in 2027. The first 10 million kilowatt level Shagehuang wind, solar, and thermal storage transmission base in southern Xinjiang has started construction in Ruoqiang County on September 28, 2024. The total investment for the 750 kV power grid project is 3.256 billion yuan. The plan is to build 268.1 kilometers of 750 kV transmission lines and 2 new 750 kV substations, with an additional transformer capacity of 9 million kVA. Keywords: Xinjiang power transmission, ultra-high voltage direct current

Outward delivery pattern
Relying on the positioning of three bases and one channel, Xinjiang has continuously improved its power grid structure and formed an internal supply eight ring network and external transmission five channel pattern, with a leading 750 kV provincial power grid in China. Relevant units will advance the preliminary procedures in parallel to seize the production nodes and release the guarantee of supply efficiency. As of the end of August 2026, the amount of electricity transmitted from Xinjiang to other regions will reach 115.131 billion kilowatt hours, accounting for 39.5% of the total new energy transmission. This will continue to inject power into cross regional energy complementarity.Editor/Min Jing
