On November 2, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Central Committee, held talks with Saudi Minister of State, Cabinet member, and National Security Advisor Aiban in Beijing.  

Wang Yi stated that Saudi Arabia has always been an important comprehensive strategic partner of China, and China has placed the development of relations with Saudi Arabia in the priority direction of China's Middle East diplomacy. Under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of both countries, China Saudi Arabia relations have maintained a steady development momentum. Both sides have strengthened political mutual trust, maintained strategic communication, and promoted pragmatic cooperation, becoming a stabilizing force in the region. China is willing to work with Saudi Arabia to continuously make new progress in bilateral relations.

Both sides exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East Gulf. Wang Yi said that the current regional situation has once again reached a critical juncture of war and peace. Although the road to peace is not smooth, it is approaching. We hope that all parties can resolve disputes, quell conflicts, and maintain regional energy and waterway security through dialogue and negotiation. China believes that countries in the region should enhance understanding, rebuild mutual trust, improve relations, and live in harmony, and promote the construction of a new regional security architecture that is in line with the long-term interests of the people of the region through consultation. China is willing to uphold the series of initiatives and proposals put forward by the President on maintaining regional peace and stability, communicate and coordinate with all parties including Saudi Arabia, and play a constructive role in helping the region emerge from the haze and achieve long-term peace and stability as soon as possible.Editor/Min Jing
