On June 30, the construction of the two lake tunnel project under the East Lake and South Lake in Wuhan was officially started. The person in charge of the engineering design unit said that the overall construction conditions of the Wuhan Lianghu Tunnel project are complex, and the construction difficulty is no less than that of the urban subway crossing the river. Its underground is distributed with uneven composite strata such as karst, hard rock, soft and hard, etc. The implementation conditions are extremely rare, and after completion, it will be the world's largest urban lake bottom tunnel project.

Floor plan of the Lianghu Tunnel Project

The Wuhan Two Lakes Tunnel Project starts from Qinyuan Road and Donghu Road in Wuchang District in the north, passes through East Lake and South Lake, and connects the third ring road of Wuhan City in the south. The total length is 19 kilometers. It is a special road for cars and has a design speed of 50 kilometers per hour. The project was built by Wuhan City Construction Investment Development Group Co., Ltd. The project adopts the overall tunnel-road-tunnel construction method, mainly underground tunnels, the total length of shield construction is 13.3 kilometers, the maximum outer diameter of the tunnel is 15.5 meters, its super-large diameter ranks first in China, and it is also the longest in China and the largest city in the world. Lake tunnel. In order to save land resources, the tunnel is designed as two layers, upper and lower, respectively, driving vehicles in different directions.

According to the relevant person in charge of Wuhan City Investment Corporation, at present, the central area of Wuchang is separated by East Lake, South Lake, railway corridors and a large number of universities, large enterprises and institutions, forming a number of closed areas, poor communication between the north and south directions, and travel in related areas is blocked. Congestion is severe during the peak period, especially the congestion of Fruit Lake Tunnel and Luoshi North Road has become the norm.

After the completion of the Wuhan Two Lakes Tunnel Project, it will become a backbone rapid passage through the central urban area of Wuchang, which not only connects the Wuhan River Crossing Traffic-Yangtze River Railway Railway Tunnel, but also improves the traffic congestion on the second ring road of the city, and further cracks the fruit lake, optical valley and other regions The traffic bottleneck also provides a blueprint for the construction of the lake tunnel project in the world's cities.
