The Indian government has approved the Haryana Rail Corridor project worth 56.17 billion rupees ($764 million), which will extend from Parwar to Sonnypat.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the project to improve regional connectivity and ease congestion in the national capital area. According to the plan, the railway line will start from Palwar and end at the existing Harsana Kalan station in the Delhi-Ambala section.

The line will pass through Sohna, Manesar and Kharkhauda and provide connections to the existing Patli, Sultanpur and Asaudha stations.

The Haryana Railway Infrastructure Development Joint Venture, established by the Ministry of Railways and the Haryana State Government, will implement the project within five years.

Once completed, it is expected that the line will be used by 20,000 passengers every day and support a freight volume of 50Mtpa. This line will help divert traffic that was not originally part of Delhi, thereby alleviating the congestion in the NCR.

It will also promote the development of several regions in Haryana, especially Palwar, Nu, Gurum, Jahar and Sonapat, and support the development of multimodal logistics hubs and other economic and social activities. Editor/Huang Lijun
