On September 23, 2020, a link project that played an important role in connecting and opening up a new pattern for Shanghai's transportation construction came with good news. China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau and China Railway Tunnel Bureau won two bids for the Shanghai Rail Transit City Line Airport Link Project.

The airport connecting line project starts from the Hongqiao hub and runs along the east side of the Shanghai-Hangzhou Passenger Dedicated Railway, Chunshentang Passage, Outer Ring Expressway S20 and Yingbin Expressway S1. The main line is 68.6 kilometers long and the investment is 48.054 billion yuan.

The project passes through the 3 districts of Minhang, Xuhui, and Pudong New Area, with a total of Hongqiao Station, Qibao Station, Huajing Station, Sanlin South Station, Zhangjiang Station, Resort Station, Pudong Airport Station, Pudong Airport Planning Terminal Station, Shanghai 9 stations including the East Railway Station, and the construction of Shanghai East Vehicle Base, Huqing Pingding Depot, Dispatching Center and related projects.

The winning bid of the Shanghai Tunnel Project for the Tunnel Shares is located from the Hongqiao Hub in the west to the east end of Huajing Station in the east. Construction of shield tunneling (including entrance and exit reinforcement) between Meifu Road shield starting shaft, 3# air shaft, Huajing station piston air shaft, Meifu Road working shaft~3#风井~2# air shaft section, Hua Construction of shield tunnels (including reinforcement of entrance and exit) between Jingzhan Station and Meifu Road working wells, construction of interface works behind the station, and river-crossing renovation works in the previous works within this section

The project is divided into two bid sections. China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau won the JCXSG-10 standard for 636 million yuan; China Railway Tunnel Bureau won the JCXSG-11 standard for 1.555 billion yuan. Editor/Peng Xue
