Recently, the Export-Import Bank of China and the Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance signed a loan agreement for the expansion of rural power grids (Phase 7).
The project plans to build 2,970 kilometers of medium voltage transmission lines, covering 14 provinces in Cambodia. After the project is completed, it will effectively improve the current situation of power shortage and high electricity prices in the areas along the route, promote the economic recovery of Cambodia after the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and improve the living standards of local people.
Electricity is the priority development area of the Cambodian government's "Four Corners Strategy". Up to now, the Export-Import Bank has supported the construction of 8,384 kilometers of transmission lines in Cambodia, including 6,819 kilometers of rural power transmission lines.
For a long time, the Export-Import Bank of China has supported a number of key projects in Cambodia's electricity, water conservancy, transportation and other infrastructure and people's livelihoods, which has played an important role in promoting China-Cambodia economic and trade cooperation and bilateral friendly relations. In the future, the Export-Import Bank of China will continue to steadily advance financing cooperation with Cambodia under the Belt and Road Initiative, actively support Cambodia's economic and social development, and push the China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
