On December 18, 2020, China Railway Group and the Shaanxi Provincial Government jointly issued the "Approval on the Feasibility Study Report on the Adjustment of the New Xi'an-Ankang High-speed Railway". At present, in addition to the approval of the adjustment feasibility study of the Xikang High-speed Railway, the preliminary adjustment design has been submitted to the National Railway Appraisal Center for review, the control engineering construction drawings have been reviewed in advance, and the land acquisition and demolition preparations are progressing steadily.

New high-speed railway from Xi'an to Ankang

The Xi’an-Ankang high-speed railway leads from Xi’an East Station, and after passing through the Qinling Mountains, passes through Zhashui, Zhen’an, Xunyang to Ankang West Station. The main line is 170.4 kilometers in length, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour and a planned construction period of 5 years. There are 6 stations in Xi’an East, Taihe, Zhashui West, Zhen’anxi, Tongmu, and Ankang West. The Ankang West Station is designed as 4 sets of 10 lines, supporting the construction of 6-line standard group parking yard, daily operation of 70 pairs of passenger cars, initial capacity Transport 13.9 million people annually. It is understood that according to the approved document, the area of the newly built Ankang West Station has increased to 20,000 square meters, and the estimated total investment has increased to 35.51 billion yuan.

The Qinling Taixingshan Tunnel is the longest tunnel on the entire Xikang High-speed Railway with a total length of 18,854 meters. It has a large buried depth, relatively complex geological conditions, and a tunnel through multiple faults. The construction period is 48 months. The tunnel controls the total construction period of the entire line. Design recommendations As an early stage of construction.

In the future, when the new Xi'an-Ankang high-speed railway is completed and put into operation, the time from Xi'an to Ankang will be shortened from the current 3 hours to about half an hour. At the same time, the Xikang high-speed rail will be reserved at the Ankang West High-speed Railway Station to extend the route to Chongqing. Chongqing also only takes about 2 hours.
