On January 7, 2021, China Railway Group issued an announcement that China Railway Bridge Bureau won the bid for the Ma'anshan dual-purpose Yangtze River Bridge project of Chaoma Railway, with a bid amount of about 5.4 billion yuan.

The length of the new Chaohu-Ma'anshan Intercity Railway is 73.2 kilometers, of which the connecting line from Ma'anshan South to Ma'an Shandong Station is 11.8 kilometers long. The east end of Ma'anshan South Station reserves the main line to Lukou Airport to connect with the Jiangsu Nanyanjiang Intercity Railway. Three new station buildings, Hanshan Station, Zhengpugang Station and Maanshan South Station will be newly established across the line. The entire line control construction project is the Ma'anshan dual-purpose Yangtze River Bridge with a total length of 9..6 kilometers. The Ma'anshan dual-purpose Yangtze River Bridge and related projects need to be constructed first.

The Ma'anshan Highway-Railway Yangtze River Bridge has a total length of 9.663 kilometers and a main span of 1,120 meters. It is designed as a three-tower and two-span steel truss cable-stayed bridge. The bridge has the characteristics of "one high", "two large", "three towers" and "four functions".

One high: the main tower is high. The main tower is 345 meters high, which is equivalent to a 100-story building.

Two: Large single-span span, double-span continuous span. The left-branched cable-stayed bridge of the bridge has a single-span span of 1,120 meters and a double-span continuous span of 2,240 meters, which is the best in the world among similar bridges.

Three towers: The main towers of the bridge are all reinforced concrete structures. The two side towers are in the shape of the letter "I" in the longitudinal direction, and the middle tower is in the shape of the letter "A" in the longitudinal direction.

Four functions: After the bridge is completed, it will integrate four major functions. The cross-river section adopts a multi-channel bridge scheme such as "Chao-Ma Intercity Railway + Reserved Rail Transit Line + Urban Expressway + Pipe Corridor". The bridge is divided into upper and lower two levels. The upper level is a two-way six-lane municipal road, and the lower level is Chaoma Intercity Railway Line 2 plus reserved rail transit Line 2. In addition, the bridge will also undertake some functions of pipe corridor crossing the river.

After the completion of the Chaoma Intercity Railway, the Yangtze River Delta high-speed railway network will be further improved, and the level of regional interconnection will be effectively improved, which is of great significance to supporting the higher-quality integrated development of the Wanjiang region, Jiangsu Province and the Yangtze River Delta.
