On January 15, 2021, the Xiangluzhou Bridge in Wangcheng District, Changsha City, officially started construction and is scheduled to be opened to traffic at the end of 2023. It is understood that this project is the first Xiangjiang River bridge designed in accordance with Class I waterway standards, and it is also the single-tower cable-stayed bridge with the largest span of Xiangjiang River. The 202m tower is the highest height of the Changsha River Crossing Bridge.

Xiangluzhou Bridge Project

The Xiangluzhou Bridge project has a total investment of about 2.71 billion yuan. The project is an urban trunk road. The main line is about 3.24km long, the ramp length is about 3.85km, two-way six lanes, a design speed of 60km/h, a standard cross-section width of 34.5m, and a single section. The sidewalk is 2m wide, the one-way non-motor vehicle lane is 2.5m wide, and the one-way motor vehicle lane is 11.5m wide.

Among them, the main bridge of the west branch channel has a main span of 300m, and the main bridge of the east branch channel adopts a continuous rigid frame bridge design with a main span of 2×165m, and adopts the "Diamond of Xiangjiang" scheme. The scheme is based on a diamond with shining stars and takes its diamond light. The gradation, level, radiation, and diffusion of the details of beauty, using artistic curves and overlapping and interweaving of the lake surface, as if the water of the Xiangjiang River is slowly rising, condensing the wisdom and future of Wangcheng District into diamonds, leaping on the river surface, shining agile, bridge The shape of the tower is round, full, stable, and graceful.

Wangcheng District is the only city in Changsha that straddles the banks of the Xiangjiang River. It has 35 kilometers of riverside resources. Among the 26 Xiangjiang River Crossing Channels planned and constructed by Changsha City, 8 are planned within Wangcheng District, and 4 have been completed. To the north are Sanchaji Bridge, Third Ring Road, Navigation and Hydropower Junction Bridge and Beijing-Zhuhai Double Track Bridge. Xiangluzhou Bridge is the fifth river-crossing passage in the district. It is 9.3 kilometers away from Sanchaji Bridge in the south, 8.4 kilometers away from Xiangjiang Navigation and Hydropower Hub in the north, and connects Dingziwan Street and Dazehu Street in Wangcheng District from east to west. After the completion of the Xiangluzhou Bridge, it will further promote the formation of Wangcheng District’s urban development pattern of “one river and two banks flying together, the river east and the west are coordinated”. At the same time, it will also accelerate the formation of the Meixi Lake-Xiangyin Great Transportation Corridor.
