According to the "Special Plan for Tianjin Municipal (Suburban) Railway (2019-2035)", the function of municipal (suburban) railway is positioned, and the Tianjin municipal (suburban) railway network consisting of 7 corridor lines and 2 connecting lines is planned to be formed. There are 9 lines with a total planned scale of 681 kilometers (including 494 kilometers newly built and 187 kilometers using existing railways). The 7 corridor lines are Jinbin Line, Jinjing Line, Jinwu Line, Jinji Line (using existing railways), Jinning Line, Jinshan Line (using existing railways), and Tianjin Port Line. The two connecting lines are respectively Ningwu connecting line and Shuanghu connecting line.

The Tianjin Central City to Jinghai City (Suburb) Railway Project is an important corridor line in the "Tianjin City (Suburb) Railway Special Plan". The entire line is West Screw Ya Industrial Park, east to Binhai International Airport Station, passing Jinghai District and West Qing District, Hexi District, Hedong District and Dongli District are connected with Jinghaibei High-speed Railway Station, Tuanbo West District, Cultural Center, 5km Innovation Center after Haihe River, Binhai Airport and other important urban functional areas along the line, realizing peripheral new cities, external hubs and cities Fast access to the center.

Among them, the first section of the railway from the central city of Tianjin to Jinghai (suburbs) starts from the International Medical City Station and ends at Tuanbo West Station (excluding), with a total length of 3.265 kilometers, all of which are laid along the Tuanbo Road in an elevated form. A new elevated station is built to be the International Medical City Station. The station is located on the north side of the intersection of Tuanbo Avenue and planned Poyang Lake Road, and is set along the north-south direction of Tuanbo Avenue. This station is the starting point of the first section of the project, and the station type is a standard lateral elevated second-story station. The project is scheduled to start in February and will be completed and opened for trial operation at the end of February 2024.

It is reported that the recent construction project of the Tianjin Central City to Jinghai City (suburban) railway starts from the International Medical City Station in the south, passing through Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tianjin Sports Bureau, Beijing Normal University Affiliated Primary School and other cultural, educational, health and residential areas.
