On May 18, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony of the railway connecting line project from Yangkou Port Area to Lusi Port Area of Nantong Port was held in Haimen Port New Area, Nantong City. The construction of the Yanglu Railway, which was built by China Railway 19th Bureau Group and China Railway 24th Bureau Group, has started construction.

Yanglu Railway is connected to Beiyu Station of Ocean Railway in the north and Lusi Station of Phase II of Ningqi Railway in the south. There are 9 stations on the whole line, with a total length of about 85 kilometers and a total investment of about 9.9 billion yuan. Yanglu Railway is a class II single-track (double-line reserved) internal combustion railway with a combined passenger and freight line, with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour (160 kilometers reserved), taking into account the functions of suburban railways in the long term.
The project passes through Qidong City, Haimen District, Demonstration Zone, and 4 counties (cities) districts of Rudong County, with 7 new stations (Dayu Station, Donghu Station, Tongzhou Bay Station, Zhengyu Station, Dongzao Port Station, Lusi Port South) Station, Lusigang Station), and renovate 2 connection stations (Beiyu Station and Lusi Station). The construction started this time is the section from Lusigang Station to Dongzaogang Station on the first section of Yanglu Railway, which is about 29 kilometers long and is scheduled to open at the end of 2022.
The Yanglu Railway, which runs through the north and south of the "Datongzhou Bay", is mainly cargo and customer transportation. It is a major project of the modern collection and distribution system of the "railway connecting port area, inland river to dock, port to the ocean" planned by Tongzhou Bay. Its completion will realize the closed loop of Nantong Railway, effectively link up the ports of "Datongzhou Bay" and open up the "last mile" of the railway into the port.
Wang Hui, deputy secretary of the Nantong Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, said that the construction of the Yanglu railway has started, marking a critical step in the construction of a river-sea combined transport system that connects the railway to port areas, inland rivers to docks, and ports to the ocean, creating a world-class standard Yangtze River. The new port for container transportation has entered the fast lane.

"Datongzhou Bay" takes the Tongzhou Bay Demonstration Zone as the core and integrates the Yangkou Port, Tongzhou Bay, Haimen Port, and Lusi Port on the 206 kilometers coastline of Nantong. The planned land area is about 210 square kilometers and the port area is about 100 square kilometers. , It can build more than 300 berths of 20,000 to 300,000 tons. After completion, it will become another new river-sea combined transportation channel in my country after Shanghai Yangshan Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port. It is understood that the construction of Tongzhou Bay mainly includes port engineering, collection and distribution engineering and shipping service construction. It will focus on the construction of 3 deep water channels, 3 river-sea combined transportation channels, 3 expressway channels and 2 railway freight channels. Yanglu Railway is one of the "two railway freight channels".
After the completion of Yanglu Railway, it will further enlarge the strategic advantage of "Datongzhou Bay", use river-rail-sea combined transportation as the link to further improve the efficiency of resource agglomeration and allocation, and actively contribute to the construction of Jiangsu's new outlet to the sea.
