On March 18, Liaoning Chaoyang pumped storage power Station officially started construction, which is the largest and high-profile single project in Chaoyang city in recent years, and will play an important role in easing the peak pressure of the power grid and promoting the local construction of "clean energy capital".

Chaoyang Pumped storage Power Station is a key implementation project of the "14th Five-Year Plan" for Medium and Long-term Pumped Storage Development Plan (2021-2035). The power station is located in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, with a linear distance of about 30 kilometers from Chaoyang City and 280 kilometers from Shenyang City. The hub project includes upper reservoir, lower reservoir, underground water transmission system and power plant, ground switch station, water refill system, etc. The upper reservoir is located on the west side of Shenzhangzi Village, Lianhe Township, Longcheng District, and the lower reservoir is located on the left bank platform of the Tiger Mountain River, south of Yujiadian Village, Beigou Township, Chaoyang County.

The installed capacity of the power station is 1300 MW, and four 325 MW reversible pump-turbine generator sets are installed, with a rated water head of 339 meters. After completion, it is expected to generate 2.6 billion KWH of electricity annually.

The construction of the project will promote and improve the construction of transportation, power and other infrastructure in Chaoyang, and continue to promote local economic and social development. After the project is put into operation, it can share with other peaking power supplies the tasks of power grid peak regulation, frequency regulation, energy storage, phase regulation, emergency backup, etc., to improve the safety and stability of power grid operation.
