On the afternoon of June 24, 2024, President Xi Jinping held a ceremony at the square outside the east gate of the Great Hall of the People to welcome Polish President Andrzej Duda to pay a state visit to China.
When referring to China-Poland relations, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that as one of the first countries to recognize the new China, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries has gone through 75 years of ups and downs. In particular, in the past eight years, China and Poland have jointly decided to elevate bilateral relations to a new height of comprehensive strategic partnership, which has comprehensively deepened the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in many fields. The results of these cooperations have deeply affected the lives of the people of the two countries.
At present, the world is in an unprecedented period of change, with various changes intertwined and full of uncertainty and challenges. Against this background, China is willing to work hand in hand with Poland, adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, keep in mind the original intention, continue to carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries, and promote the relationship between the two countries to a higher level, injecting more stability and certainty into this world full of variables and challenges.
General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that the key to the stability of China-Poland relations after ups and downs is that both sides draw wisdom from history and culture and adhere to the independent development of bilateral relations. The two sides should continue to respect each other, treat each other as equals, and cooperate for mutual benefit, oppose the Cold War mentality and camp confrontation, maintain the international order, and promote the construction of multipolarity and inclusive globalization. We should strengthen strategic coordination, jointly build the Belt and Road, safeguard the cooperation of China-Europe trains, and expand cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, green, and digital. China welcomes Polish agricultural and food products, supports two-way investment, implements the 15-day visa-free policy for Polish citizens, and promotes cultural and youth exchanges. At the same time, China is willing to work with Poland and other countries to promote the healthy development of China-Central and Eastern Europe cooperation and China-Europe relations.
The two sides discussed in depth the issue of the Ukrainian crisis and exchanged views on it. President Xi Jinping reiterated China's basic position on the Ukrainian crisis, that is, to promote peaceful dialogue and seek a political solution. At present, we should do our utmost to prevent the conflict from escalating and expanding further, promote the easing of the situation, and create favorable conditions for peaceful negotiations. This is not only in the common interests of the global community, including Europe, but also a goal we should pursue.Editor/Zhang Liyuan
