On August 28, 2024, marking a key project in Shanghai's 14th Five-Year Energy Plan: the Caojing Comprehensive Energy Center Phase II project, under the careful preparation of China Energy Construction Group, ushered in the first concrete pouring ceremony , officially kicked off the project construction.

The project is located in Caojing Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, covering a vast area of 31 hectares. Following the national strategic guidance on establishing coal power first and then reforming it, the project will introduce two technologically advanced 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical clean, green and efficient coal power units, and build efficient dust removal, desulfurization and denitrification systems to enhance coal power generation. The basic guarantee function and peak-shaving flexibility of electricity will be promoted to promote the green transformation of the energy structure.

In terms of technological innovation, the project plans to adopt cutting-edge double reheat ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation technology, significantly improve the operating efficiency and economy of the unit through in-depth optimization of the waste heat utilization system, and achieve the world's leading level in standard coal consumption for power supply. At the same time, the project will deeply integrate digital concepts to build a blueprint for smart power plants, and is committed to building a world-class demonstration power station that integrates clean, low-carbon, efficient and intelligent.

As a comprehensive energy center integrating green coal power and large-scale industrial heating functions, after the project is put into operation, it will have the ability to stably supply up to 800 tons/hour of heat energy to the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone, which will not only help optimize Shanghai’s power supply The supply structure provides a solid guarantee for the safe and stable operation of Shanghai and even East China power grids, and effectively promotes the high-quality transformation and development of megacities in the energy field.Editor/Jiang Mingyue
