On October 8, 2024, a wind and hydrogen coupled biomass green methanol demonstration project of China Coal Bioenergy Co., Ltd. was officially approved for filing. The total investment of the project is 1.44 billion yuan, and the construction site is located in Linxi Industrial Park, Chifeng Non-ferrous Metal Development Zone, Inner Mongolia, located in the southeast of Linxi Industrial Park, Chifeng City, about 10 kilometers from the county seat.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2025 and be completed by September 2027. The total land area of the project is 115,600 square meters, and the total construction area is 23,000 square meters. It will be built including comprehensive building, central control room, central laboratory building, warehouse, methanol tank farm, automobile loading station, maintenance workshop, chemical warehouse and other supporting facilities.

The project will build a new methanol production line with an annual output of 200,000 tons, mainly through biomass methanol and wind hydrogen production two ways. Among them, the biomass methanol project will consume 2,000 tons of cow manure per day, and synthesize green methanol after gasification through the gasifier, with an estimated annual output of 200,000 tons. The solar hydrogen production project plans to build a hydrogen production capacity of 32,000 Nm³/h hydrogen production station, and configure electrolytic cells, hydrogen storage spherical tanks and other facilities, while supporting the construction of appropriate scale of wind power, photovoltaic and energy storage facilities according to the project needs and document requirements.

The implementation of the project not only marks a major breakthrough in the green energy transformation of China Coal (Linxi) Bioenergy Co., LTD., but also will have a profound impact on the local and even the national level. It promotes the innovation and application of clean energy technologies, and contributes to reducing carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.
