On March 17, 2025, the Huanghua Port Coal Phase V Project of the National Energy Group Port Company began construction, marking the official start of a new round of expansion and increment for this hub port of the country's "West to East and North to South coal transportation". After completion, the recommended capacity of Huanghua Port will increase by 540000 tons, the annual coal throughput capacity will increase by 53.1 million tons, and the coal transportation capacity will increase from 210 million tons per year to 260 million tons, significantly strengthening the hub role of the national energy transportation "artery".
