On June 25, 2025, the world's largest green hydrogen project located in the NEOM region of Saudi Arabia has completed 80% of the construction progress. This milestone progress marks a new stage in the global clean energy transformation.

The project is invested and constructed by NEOM Green Hydrogen Corporation (NGHC) and is a tripartite joint venture between ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM. At present, core equipment including 4GW wind and light power generation facilities, electrolytic cell systems, hydrogen storage tanks, etc. have been installed. The entire project is expected to be fully completed in mid-2026, and the first batch of chlorammonia products will be put on the market in 2027.

This super factory, covering an area of more than 300 square kilometers, adopts a full industrial chain integration model, which will achieve a complete closed loop from renewable energy power generation to green hydrogen production and then to ingredient ammonia conversion. After the project is completed, 600 tons of carbon-free hydrogen can be produced every day and will be exported to the global market through the form of chlorammonia, which is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 5 million tons per year.

It is particularly worth noting that the project innovatively integrates mature technologies into large-scale integrated applications. A dedicated wind and solar power plant on site will provide about 4GW of clean power, ensuring that the entire production process is completely carbon-free. Oxagon, the project location, is an industrial new city focused on building by NEOM, and its construction is highly consistent with Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" and Saudi Green Initiative.

The promotion of this project will reshape the global hydrogen energy industry structure. By using urinamide as a hydrogen energy carrier, it can effectively solve the problem of long-distance hydrogen transportation and provide cost-competitive clean energy solutions for the fields of industrial decarbonization and heavy-duty transportation. As the project enters the final construction stage, global energy transformation will usher in a new benchmark case.(This article is from the official website of Seetao www.seetao.com.
