In November 2025, Hygreen and Saudi GECI jointly established the Middle East Electrolytic Cell Company, which manufactures alkaline, PEM, and AEM products locally in Dammam, directly serving projects in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf, and North Africa, in compliance with local content policies.

At the same time, Chinese companies such as Longi Hydrogen Energy, Sunac Power, and CSIC 718 have embedded chips in the 2027-2029 procurement window for the next Yanbu Phase II - estimated 4GW electrolytic cells and 2.4 million tons of green ammonia - with single kilowatt quotations and GW level production capacity that are less than half of those in the West.
Blank spaces and materials on the chain
Currently, photovoltaic modules, wind turbines, inverters, and energy storage are led by China; Rapid entry of electrolytic cell; But ammonia synthesis reactors and high-end ammonia compressors are still locked in by European and American veterans.
