On July 27, 2025, the preliminary construction of the Ganluo section of the Jinkouhe Xichang Expressway (hereinafter referred to as the "Jinxi Expressway"), a major transportation infrastructure construction project in Sichuan Province, officially began. The project is invested and constructed by Shudao Investment Group Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 49.652 billion yuan. It is an important component of the 20 radiation lines in Chengdu's highway network planning in Sichuan Province.
The Ganluo section, which started construction first this time, has a total length of 51.46 kilometers and an investment scale of about 12 billion yuan. The starting point of the project is located in Wushi Daqiao Town, Ganluo County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, connecting with the completed Emei to Hanyuan Expressway, and the endpoint is at the mouth of Baisha River. The bridge tunnel ratio of this section is as high as 90.42%, and 12.5 bridges with a total length of 6104 meters and 9 tunnels with a total length of 40430 meters will be constructed. Among them, the Lianghong Tunnel (10.6 kilometers), Suxiong Tunnel (8.8 kilometers), and Laomuping Tunnel (6.8 kilometers) are listed as the three major control projects.
The Jinxi Expressway project has a total length of 211.618 kilometers, including a main line of 172.528 kilometers and a Lugu branch line of 39.09 kilometers. The entire line adopts the standard of a two-way four lane expressway, with a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour and a roadbed width of 25.5 meters. The bridge tunnel ratio of the project is 75.55%, and the construction period is 6 years. After completion, it will end the history of Ganluo County, Yuexi County, and Xide County in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province not being connected to highways.

As the fourth expressway connecting Chengdu Plain Economic Zone and Panxi Economic Zone, Jinxi Expressway has important strategic significance:
1. Establish a new high-speed corridor from Chengdu to Yunnan Province via Xichang
2. Undertake the dual track function of G5 Beijing Kunming Expressway
3. Annual traffic conditions are better than existing routes
4. Strengthen the interconnectivity of G5 Beijing Kunming Expressway, S66 Longde Expressway, and G7611 Xixiang Expressway
The construction of this project will significantly improve the traffic capacity of the southbound exit channel in Sichuan Province, and is of great significance for promoting the economic and social development of ethnic minority areas along the route and improving the comprehensive transportation system in Southwest China.
