On September 8, 2025, a 1295 China Europe freight train loaded with 54 containers departed through the Erenhot railway port and headed towards Europe. This landmark event means that the number of China Europe freight trains entering and exiting through the port in 2025 has exceeded 300000 TEUs, which is 23 days ahead of the target for 2024.
As the only entry and exit railway port of the "China Europe Railway Express", the Erenhot Railway Port is located at the core of the China Mongolia Russia Economic Corridor. Since the first China Europe Railway Express was launched in 2013, it has built an increasingly complete cross-border logistics network. As of now, the port has accumulated over 20000 China Europe freight trains and expanded its operating routes to 74. It can not only reach more than 70 cities or stations in more than 10 countries such as Germany and Poland, but also radiate to more than 60 cities in 24 provinces and regions in China, becoming an important logistics hub connecting domestic and foreign markets.

From the operational data in 2025, as of September 8th, the Erenhot Railway Port has received a total of 2646 China Europe freight trains, transporting 3.4876 million tons of goods, an increase of 9.5% and 15.4% year-on-year, respectively. The continuous expansion of the railway network is an important support. Since the beginning of this year, the railway department has added new train lines such as "Wuhu Moscow", "Liulihe Minsk", and "Datong Sheliadino", further enriching the transportation channels; The categories of goods are constantly expanding, covering more than 10000 types of products such as new energy vehicles and accessories, high-end machinery and equipment, to meet diverse cross-border transportation needs.
To improve the freight efficiency of the China Europe freight train, the Erenhot railway port optimizes service guarantees from multiple dimensions. On the one hand, the railway department actively optimizes the transportation organization process, reducing the transit and port stay time of goods through measures such as redefining loading and unloading operation areas, increasing dedicated operation lines, and opening up "green channels"; On the other hand, strengthen communication and coordination with customs, border inspection and other joint inspection units to ensure efficient connection between the clearance review, replacement and release of trains. Yang Dongdong, the head of the Technical Department at Erlian Station of China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the current stay time of a single China Europe train at the port has been reduced to less than 4 hours, significantly improving cross-border logistics efficiency.
