In the era of accelerating regional transportation integration, high-speed rail construction is like a powerful engine, driving the close connection between cities and the continuous expansion of the economic map. Recently, there has been a breakthrough in the promotion of the Changjiu high-speed railway, like a stone thrown into a calm lake, causing ripples and arousing keen attention from the provinces of Hunan and Jiangxi, as well as the whole country, to the new regional transportation pattern. This line, which is expected to become the third high-speed railway corridor between Hunan and Jiangxi with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, is vigorously outlining a new blueprint for regional transportation development.

The promotion of the Changjiu high-speed railway has made breakthrough progress. In addition to the completed Shanghai Kunming high-speed railway and the under construction Changsha Jiangxi high-speed railway, there is hope to add a high-speed railway channel with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour between Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. According to a public response from Pingjiang County in September of this year in the column "Ask Hunan", as of then, the Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan high-speed railway has been officially included in the Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan rail transit plan and has successfully obtained approval from the National Development and Reform Commission, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent promotion of the project.

At present, Hunan and Jiangxi provinces are taking this opportunity to actively collaborate and strive to include the Changjiu high-speed railway in the national medium - to long-term and "15th Five Year Plan" railway planning. Only by entering the national level railway development plan can the project truly have the prerequisite for starting construction, which is also an important milestone that urgently needs to be broken through in the current process of promoting the Changjiu high-speed railway.

On the Hunan side, at the end of August this year, the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued a public notice on the proposed funding support for major investment projects in 2025, including the Changsha Jiujiang high-speed railway project, with an estimated total investment of about 24.4 billion yuan for the Hunan section. The Changjiu high-speed railway is an important project for Changsha to build a "rice shaped" high-speed railway hub, and it is also one of the most promising projects for Hunan Province to strive for inclusion in the national medium and long-term plan. In the planning of the Changsha hub of the Changgan high-speed railway, conditions have been reserved for the connection in Kaifu District of Changsha, which can simultaneously connect Changsha West Station and Changsha South Station. The recommended route for the Hunan section of the plan passes through Pingjiang County, Yueyang City, and connects to the planned Chijiu high-speed railway in Jiujiang, which can fill the gap in the northeast road network of Changsha and form a new high-speed railway path to Nanjing and the Yangtze River Delta direction.

In Jiangxi, the relevant cities that the project is expected to pass through have also initiated research on route schemes in the past two years. There are currently two plans for the Jiangxi section: the northern line passing through Jiujiang Xiushui and Wuning, and the southern line passing through Yichun Tonggu and Yifeng. At the end of 2023, Yifeng and Tonggu counties in Yichun city launched a study on the station location plan for the Yifeng and Tonggu lines of the Changsha Nanchang (Jiujiang) railway; In September 2024, Jiujiang City launched a plan study within Jiujiang. Nanchang City has also included the Changchang (Jiujiang) high-speed railway as a key focus of promotion, aiming to introduce the line into the Nanchang hub, build a dual high-speed railway route from Changsha to Nanchang and Jiujiang, and form an auxiliary channel for the Shanghai Kunming high-speed railway.
