The modernization process of Romania's transportation infrastructure is accelerating. On the important A1 highway section of Sibiu Pitesti in the country, multiple key projects are underway simultaneously, with the most notable being the full commencement of drilling and blasting operations for the Roberti Tunnel.

The construction scale of this 900 meter long tunnel is grand, and the construction team needs to remove 200000 cubic meters of rock and soil and use 70 tons of explosives for blasting operations. To support the tunnel structure, the project is expected to consume 60000 cubic meters of concrete and 4000 tons of reinforcement materials, demonstrating the complexity and difficulty of tunnel engineering.
The Sibiu Pitesti section of the A1 highway has become a highly challenging project due to its mountainous terrain. The second section of the road is approximately 31 kilometers long and will construct 48 elevated bridges and bridges, as well as 7 tunnel sections. The 836 million euro project was undertaken by a consortium of Cengiz and Mapa companies in Türkiye and is scheduled to be completed in 2028.
The third section, which also faces severe challenges, is 37.4 kilometers long and located in mountainous areas. It will construct 52 bridges and multiple tunnel sections. The contract is worth approximately 1 billion euros and will be constructed by the Italian company Webuild. It is worth mentioning that the construction party used a tunnel boring machine (TBM) in the excavation of a 1.78-kilometer tunnel in the Poiana area, reflecting the application of modern construction technology.

In addition, the fourth 1.35-kilometer Momaya Tunnel project, constructed by Austrian contractor PORR, is also actively progressing. At the same time, the A7 highway project in Romania is also under construction. This 96 kilometer route connects Fukani and Baku and is jointly implemented by Technostrand, Spedition, SA&PEConstruct, with MVA responsible for project management.
