In September 2026, the construction of the Dalian Changhai Bridge project reached a critical milestone - the 11.6-kilometer-long offshore ultra long steel wharf was completed 10 days ahead of schedule. With the precise positioning of the last bridge deck, the longest under construction offshore steel wharf in China has completed its mission, opening up the core sea passage for the main construction of Changhai Bridge.

The steel wharf started construction on June 25, 2025, with a total of 3431 piles sunk and a total steel consumption of 67000 tons. The Yellow Sea area where the project is located experiences frequent changes in wind, waves, and tides, with only about 180 effective working days per year. The project team spent 423 days tackling challenges, breaking through the constraints of complex ocean conditions, achieving the goal of connectivity ahead of schedule, and setting a new record for similar construction projects in China. This marks the official transition of the construction area on the south side of Changhai Bridge into the main foundation construction phase. The future project team will closely adhere to the 2030 opening target, strictly control safety and quality, steadily promote pile foundation operations and box girder installation, and make every effort to create benchmark cross sea projects, improve the comprehensive transportation system along the Liaoning coast, and provide transportation support for the interconnection and high-quality development of the Liaoning coastal economic belt.Editor/Gao Xue
