On December 29, 2025, the highly anticipated Anhui Huainan International Logistics Port Multimodal Transport Project held its groundbreaking ceremony at the original Xieyi Mine site in Xiejiaji District, marking the official entry of this major project with an estimated total investment of about 3.885 billion yuan into the construction phase, injecting strong momentum into Huainan's efforts to revitalize its old industrial city and become a national logistics hub carrier city.

According to the plan, the total area of the international logistics port project is about 2033 acres, divided into two areas: Caijiagang and Taowei Wharf. Among them, the Caijiagang area that started construction this time is the core of the project, covering an area of about 541 acres, excluding railway land. The project is positioned to create three circles: hub+node+platform, aiming to become a multimodal transportation hub serving the Hefei metropolitan area, radiating to northern Anhui, and an important logistics node radiating to the central region of the Yangtze River Delta.

Efficient and interconnected multimodal transport system
According to the design plan, the core of the project is to build efficient multimodal transportation capabilities. The dedicated railway line of the project will be connected to the existing Caijiagang Station on the Xizhang Line, achieving seamless integration of railway transportation. In the future, a comprehensive modern logistics hub integrating "highway railway water transportation" will be formed with the Taowei Port area, which is about 3 kilometers away. The forecast shows that the annual freight volume of the hub in the initial, near and long term will reach 2.55 million tons, 3.37 million tons and 4.55 million tons respectively, with huge development potential.
