A bidding candidate announcement on the CGN e-commerce platform revealed the results of an offshore wind power bidding battle in the Yangjiang area. When the consortium formed by China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen CGN Engineering Design Co., Ltd. locked in the first candidate seat with a bidding price of 1.825 billion yuan, a major project with a total investment of over 1.8 billion yuan and an installed capacity of 500 megawatts is about to begin construction. What is even more remarkable is that this project plans to complete the ultimate sprint from construction to full capacity grid connection within 204 days.

The dust of a large order worth 1.8 billion has settled
According to the announcement released by the CGN e-commerce platform, the candidates for the EPC general contracting procurement of the CGN Yangjiang Sanshan Island Wuhai Wind Power Project have been officially announced. The consortium formed by China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen CGN Engineering Design Co., Ltd. has become the first candidate for winning the bid with a bid price of 1825085038.00 yuan. China Electric Power Construction Corporation East China Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. and China Electric Power Construction Corporation Central South Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. ranked second and third with quotations of approximately 1.834 billion yuan and 1.833 billion yuan, respectively. The project is located in the southern sea area of Hailing Island in Yangjiang City, with a planned total installed capacity of 500.4 MW. It is planned to deploy 12 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 16.2 MW and 17 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 18 MW, totaling 29 large-scale wind turbines.
Shared delivery intensive development
A notable feature of this project is the adoption of advanced centralized delivery mode. According to the plan, the CGN Yangjiang Sanshan Island 5 project will share transmission facilities with the adjacent Huadian Yangjiang Sanshan Island 6 project. The two projects will jointly construct a 500 kV offshore booster station, a 500 kV intermediate compensation station, two 500 kV transmission submarine cables, and an onshore centralized control center with a capacity of 1000 MW. This intensive development model is conducive to reducing the investment cost per unit capacity, improving the efficiency of sea area utilization and the economy of transmission channels, marking a new stage of offshore wind power development from single point breakthrough to regional coordination. Sprint for grid connection within the maximum construction period
The project schedule is extremely tight, with a planned start date of April 30, 2026. It is scheduled to achieve full capacity grid connection of all equipment before December 30, 2026, with a total construction period of only 204 calendar days. This requires the winning bidder to possess strong resource integration capabilities, rich experience in offshore engineering, and efficient project management skills. From a bidding price of nearly 1.825 billion yuan to a maximum construction period of only 204 days, this project outlines the distinct characteristics of China's offshore wind power development: the project scale and investment volume continue to rise, the industry's pursuit of construction efficiency has reached its peak, and starting construction and connecting to the grid in the same year has become a new challenge benchmark.Editor/Gao Xue
