On March 20, 2026, the 67th fan impeller slowly rotates in the wind on the Gobi desert in Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County. With the successful integration of the last wind turbine into the power grid, the Guoshen Hefeng 500000 kW wind power project has officially achieved full capacity grid connection, 100 days ahead of the original schedule. This long silent Gobi Desert has entered a green new era of wind chasing power generation. As the first wind power project to start construction and put into operation in the local area, its landing has filled the gap in the development of new energy in the county and become the core benchmark of new energy key projects in Tacheng area.

67 wind turbines fully connected to the grid
After several months of efficient construction and precise debugging, all 67 wind turbines of the Guoshen Hefeng 500000 kW wind power project have achieved full load operation, successfully achieving the goal of full capacity grid connected power generation. The total installed capacity of the project is 500 megawatts, equipped with 67 high-power wind turbines with a single unit capacity of 7.5 megawatts. The hub height of each wind turbine reaches 125 meters, equivalent to the height of a 40 story high-rise building. The impeller diameter is 109 meters, and the super large sweeping area can capture wind energy to the maximum extent. The project will synchronously construct a 220 kV booster station and a dedicated transmission line to achieve seamless connection between wind power resources and the power grid.
Annual power generation of 1.28 billion kWh
After the project is fully connected to the grid, it will release significant green ecological benefits. According to estimates, the annual estimated on grid electricity consumption can reach 1.283 billion kilowatt hours, which is sufficient to meet the daily electricity needs of hundreds of thousands of households for an entire year. Compared to traditional coal-fired power generation, this project can save about 365000 tons of standard coal per year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 982000 tons, and simultaneously reduce emissions of atmospheric pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, achieving a synergistic win-win situation between energy development and ecological protection. Activate new driving forces for border economy
The full capacity of the project is connected to the grid, injecting new development momentum into Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County and even Tacheng area. From the perspective of energy transformation, the project has taken a crucial step towards transforming the local area from a traditional energy dependent region to a wind solar energy storage integrated clean energy base, increasing the proportion of clean energy in overall energy consumption and enhancing the peak shaving capability and power supply stability of the northern Xinjiang power grid. From the perspective of economic development, the project construction period has driven the development of related industries such as building materials, transportation, and labor services. After being put into operation, it will bring stable tax revenue to the local area, forming a benign development pattern of building a project, driving an industry, and activating a region.Editor/Gao Xue
