On May 28, 2020, China Railway Construction announced that the key project undertaken by China Railway 22 Bureau was the second sea-crossing project of the underground comprehensive pipe corridor of Xiamen Xiang'an New Airport Area-the airport expressway crossing the sea section The island ’s 130-meter receiving well and 20-meter burial depth arrived at the receiving point, marking the completion of the sea-crossing project of China ’s longest length and largest pipe jacking diameter.
As the only two pilot cities for the construction of underground comprehensive pipeline corridors and sponge cities in the country, Xiamen is actively promoting the construction of urban underground pipeline corridors. The underground comprehensive pipeline corridor project in Xiang'an New Airport Area is its first municipal project to be built in the PPP mode One of the three underground comprehensive pipe corridor pilot projects approved by the Ministry and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in Xiamen, with a total length of 19.75 kilometers, including 8 comprehensive pipe corridors.

The project is currently the most buried pipeline project in Xiamen with the largest cross section. The maximum buried depth is 20 meters and the maximum cross section is 32.76 square meters. It will be included in power, communication, water supply, reclaimed water, gas, rainwater, sewage and other pipelines. Set up management systems for fire protection, drainage, ventilation, information, electrical, monitoring, and identification. Among them, it is the first time that gas pipelines have been included in the construction of Xiamen Pipe Corridor.
The cross-harbour project is the focus and difficulty of the underground comprehensive pipe corridor project in the Xiamen Xiang'an New Airport area. The construction site is geologically complex, with various residual sandy cohesive soils all over, as well as fully weathered granite and submarine high-strength solitary stones. In addition, the underground pipe jacking operation has to overcome many problems such as poor geological treatment on the seabed, precise positioning of the long-distance pipe jacking axis, and zero discharge of waste mud.
In the construction of the cross-harbour section, each cubic meter of pipe jacking produces 50 cubic meters of mud. The builder insists on green construction and adopts technologies such as multi-level waste mud separation to effectively concentrate the volume of waste mud and discharge it in the form of circulating water to achieve zero discharge of waste mud in the sea. In order to further improve the pipeline's ability to resist disasters, the builder also integrates technologies such as "3D modeling + GIS visual management", robot inspection system, wireless sensor system and other technologies, environment, and More than ten subsystems, such as security, fire warning, and voice communication, have achieved efficient and intelligent pipe corridor management through comprehensive integration and high data fusion between various monitoring systems.

The new Xiang'an Airport built on Dadeng Island is the closest airport to Baodao Taiwan. It is also an important international airport, regional hub airport, and international cargo port airport in China. It is also a "mini three links" port for mainland China to Taiwan. After the project is completed, it will effectively avoid problems such as repeated excavation of roads and dense overhead lines, and improve the disaster resistance of pipelines, providing important guarantee for the construction of Xiang'an New Airport and the economic and social development of the regions along the line.
