On May 14, 2026, Datang (Ordos City) Energy Development Co., Ltd. was officially established. The registered capital of the enterprise is 10 billion yuan, and the equity structure is clear and distinct. Among them, Datang Power has subscribed 5.1 billion yuan in cash and holds 51% of the shares; Jiangsu Guoxin Group subscribed 3.4 billion yuan and holds 34% of the shares; Erdos New Energy Development and Utilization Co., Ltd. subscribed 1.5 billion yuan and holds a 15% stake.

Clear positioning of the joint venture company

Earlier, Datang Power announced that the company had signed a joint venture agreement with Jiangsu Guoxin Group and Ordos New Energy on April 28, 2026, planning to form a new joint venture enterprise Datang (Ordos) Energy Development Co., Ltd. with cash investment. The joint venture company will exclusively serve as the investment, construction, and development entity for the Mongolian Electric Power's entry into the Soviet Union project, and coordinate the implementation of the project.

According to the plan, the total planned capacity of the Mongolian Electric Power's entry into the Soviet Union project is 14.64 million kilowatts, covering 4 million kilowatts of wind power, 8 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, 2.64 million kilowatts of coal-fired power, and supporting the construction of 2.04 million kilowatts/8.16 million kilowatt hours of energy storage systems to build an integrated energy configuration system for wind, solar, and storage.

The project has prominent location advantages

The location of the Mongolian Electric Power Project in the Soviet Union is in the Kubuqi Desert and surrounding areas of Ordos, Inner Mongolia. It is situated in the core area of the national Shage Desert large-scale wind and solar power base and is a key cross provincial ultra-high voltage transmission wind, solar and energy storage integrated project with the largest single unit scale in China.

The ± 800 kV high-voltage direct current transmission channel supporting the project has been included in the mid-term adjustment plan of the 14th Five Year Plan of the country. The line starts from Hangjinqi Converter Station in Ordos and ends in Jiangning District, Nanjing, Jiangsu, passing through five provinces of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, and Anhui. The total length of the line is 1886 kilometers, and the rated transmission capacity can reach 8 million kilowatts.

The project will be constructed in stages from 2026 to 2030, with the plan to complete the main construction by the end of 2029 and achieve full operation by 2030. After the project is put into operation, more than 40 terawatt hours of electricity will be transmitted to Jiangsu every year, and the proportion of new energy electricity will exceed 60%. The regional new energy abandonment rate can be controlled within 1%, greatly improving the new energy consumption capacity. Keywords: wind and solar energy storage, new energy, joint ventures
