To solve the power supply and demand problem caused by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the world's first underwater data center relying on offshore wind farms for direct power supply, Haifeng Direct Connection, has been officially put into operation in the East China Sea near Shanghai Port.

The data center is located 35 meters underwater and is equipped with a 200 MW offshore wind farm power supply system, relying on over 50 wind turbines to provide green electricity. The project adopts seawater natural cooling technology to compress the cooling energy consumption ratio to 13%, which is much lower than the 40% cooling energy consumption ratio of traditional land data centers. At the same time, the project is located adjacent to the core coastal cities, with higher data response and processing efficiency. The supporting shore station covers an area of only 200 square meters, which greatly improves the land utilization rate compared to the traditional data center's 2000 square meter footprint. The overall installed capacity of the project is 24 megawatts, which is suitable for the daily electricity demand of cities with a population of 50000. A total of 192 cabinets and over 2000 servers are installed. After full operation, it is expected to save 61 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, effectively reducing energy consumption, significantly reducing carbon emissions, and achieving significant energy-saving and carbon reduction results.Editor/Gong Ziwei
