On May 28, 2026, Song Hailiang, Chairman of China Communications Construction Corporation, made a statement on the construction of the second phase of the Inner Mongolia Railway. At this time, on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the opening of the Mombasa Nairobi Railway, as a key project for the westward extension of the line, the second phase of the Nairobi Malaba Railway officially broke ground in Kenya in March of the same year. Connect inland logistics channels

The second phase of the Neyma Railway project starts from Naivasha and ends at Kisumu, connecting to the Victoria Lake Port area. 

This project is regarded as the finishing touch to improve the framework of the East African railway network. After the full line is connected, it will significantly improve the transportation efficiency between Mombasa Port and inland areas, greatly reducing regional logistics costs and time losses. 

This not only strengthens Kenya's position as a logistics gateway in East Africa, but also provides convenient sea routes for landlocked countries such as Uganda, directly activating the industrial layout and economic corridor construction along the route.
