Fang Qiaosheng, a member of the Cambodian Chinese Council, revealed that Cambodia has decided to implement a pilot policy of visa free entry for Chinese tourists starting from June 15th. This new regulation can promote bilateral personnel mobility and cultural tourism cooperation. During an interview in Phnom Penh on the same day, Fang Qiaosheng mentioned that the visa free landing for China is a tangible manifestation of the continued warming of bilateral friendship between China and Cambodia, as well as a practical measure to deepen personnel exchanges, cultural and tourism interactions, and people to people exchanges. The new policy facilitates Chinese people to travel to Cambodia for sightseeing, on-site business research, and project investment, promoting deepening cooperation in various industries between the two countries.

In the view of Fang Qiaosheng, China has always been the top source of foreign tourists in Cambodia, and domestic tourists have driven the local tourism economy and built a bond of mutual understanding and interaction between the people of the two countries. After visa free landing, it is expected that the number of domestic tourists traveling to Cambodia will continue to increase. Cambodia boasts the famous Angkor Wat ruins, stunning coastal scenery, rich historical heritage, and numerous unique cuisines. According to local official statistics, from January to May 2026, Angkor Wat in Siem Reap will attract nearly 360000 foreign tourists, and ticket revenue is a key source of local tourism revenue.
