Without a coastline, it allows containers to reach the sea directly. On June 2, 2026, a sea rail intermodal train departed from Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port, marking the cumulative arrival and departure volume of this inland port, which has been in operation for less than a year, exceeding 200000 TEUs. Behind this number, there is a sea outlet moving to our doorstep that is rewriting the logistics rules of the Yangtze River Delta.

Move Ningbo Zhoushan Port into Yiwu

The positioning of Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port is very clear - it is the core carrier of the sixth port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, equivalent to a newly built inland port area outside the five major container ports, specializing in operating sea rail intermodal trains from Yiwu to Ningbo Zhoushan Port. Under this mode, the procedures for exporting goods from Yiwu can be processed on-site, and entering the hub port is considered as entering Ningbo Zhoushan Port. The customs clearance time is greatly shortened, and the transportation efficiency is significantly improved.

At present, there are about 6 pairs of trains running in a loop every day, combined with manned and unmanned flatbed transport vehicles, to build a full chain intelligent operation mode. It is worth mentioning that the port is the first approved mixed mode autonomous driving test railway station in China, with full technical content.

The largest sea rail intermodal line in Zhejiang Province is born

The starting point of this route can be traced back to 2004, when Zhejiang first proposed the development of multimodal transportation at Ningbo Zhoushan Port, marking the beginning of the province's intermodal transportation of iron and steel. More than 20 years later, the sea rail intermodal line from Yiwu to Ningbo Zhoushan Port has become the largest sea rail intermodal line in Zhejiang Province, with a daily frequency of 6 pairs of trains still climbing. From zero to 200000 TEUs, Yiwu proved one thing in less than a year: when inland ports are smart enough, distance is no longer a disadvantage. This port without a sea is redefining the meaning of an outlet.Editor/Cheng Liting
