The final piece of the puzzle for the Beijing Hong Kong high-speed railway is accelerating its completion. On June 9, 2026, the bidding announcement for construction drawing review and consulting services for the Henan section of the Fuhuang high-speed railway was officially released. In addition, similar tenders have already been completed for the Anhui and Hubei sections, and the construction drawing blueprint for the entire line is about to be finalized, just one step away from the official start of construction.

This high-speed railway that runs through the provinces of Henan, Hubei, and Anhui is accelerating from paper-based planning to construction sites, and the travel patterns of millions of residents along the line will also change accordingly. As the final work of the Beijing Hong Kong Taiwan corridor, the progress of the Fuhuang high-speed railway has exceeded expectations and has also made cities along the route full of expectations for future development.

Countdown to the start of construction in the second half of the year

The Fuhuang High speed Railway has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2025. The project owner in Henan Province is Zhengzhou Wanzhou Railway Passenger Dedicated Line Henan Co., Ltd. The construction funds are jointly invested by China Railway Group and Henan Province, with 50% of the capital and the rest being bank loans. All funds have been fully secured.

The total length of the main line of the project is 318.1 kilometers, with a bridge tunnel ratio of 76.6%, including 136.6 kilometers in Henan, 131.6 kilometers in Hubei, and 49.9 kilometers in Anhui. There are 9 stations along the entire line, including 6 new ones, and multiple connecting lines and storage yards will be constructed simultaneously. The line starts from Fuyang West Station, passes south through Xinyang City, and finally connects to the Bahe Line of Huanggang Huangmei Railway, forming a fast track that runs through the north and south. Among the 9 stations, Fuyang West Station and Huangzhou Station are existing stations, while the remaining 6 are newly built stations, covering major node cities in Henan, Hubei, and Anhui provinces.

52.1 billion investment landed

The total investment estimate for the project is 52.12 billion yuan, with 19.65 billion yuan for the Henan section, 23.96 billion yuan for the Hubei section, and 8.51 billion yuan for the Anhui section. As a key section of the national eight vertical and eight horizontal Beijing Hong Kong Taiwan corridor, the completion of the Fuhuang high-speed railway will completely open up the longitudinal channel from Fuyang to Huanggang, greatly reducing the spatial and temporal distance between the Central Plains urban agglomeration and the Yangtze River middle reaches urban agglomeration. It has strategic significance for improving the regional road network structure and promoting economic development along the route.

Cities along the route, such as Xinyang and Huanggang, will directly benefit, and the process of regional transportation integration will significantly accelerate. The economic ties between Henan, Hubei, and Anhui provinces will become even closer. Keywords: railway transportation, infrastructure

At present, the bidding for the review of construction drawings for the three sections of the entire line has been completed, and once approved, the construction bidding phase can begin. According to the current pace, the Fuhuang high-speed railway is expected to officially start construction in the second half of 2026. At that time, this high-speed railway that runs through the provinces of Henan, Hubei, and Anhui will inject strong momentum into regional connectivity and bring new development opportunities to cities along the line, promoting the acceleration of the rise strategy of the central region.Editor/Cheng Liting
