The Baiwu Pumped Storage Power Station in Yanyuan, Yalong River, Sichuan Province has launched a new round of bidding work. This key energy project with a huge investment has entered a new stage of construction, providing further support for the development of clean energy in the region.

Recently, the Yalong River Yanyuan Baiwu Pumped Storage Power Station officially solicited bidding design and construction drawing design stage survey and design services. This project has been included in the national medium and long-term plan for pumped storage and is also a key energy project in the 14th Five Year Plan period of Sichuan Province. The total investment exceeds 15.6 billion yuan, and it belongs to the ultra-high head pumped storage power station. Now it has officially entered the key construction stage.

The early stage of the project is progressing steadily and orderly. The pre feasibility study report review will be completed in May 2024, and it will be approved by the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission in March 2025. In July 2025, the survey and design work for the feasibility study phase of the project will be undertaken by the designated unit, and all preparatory work has been implemented.

After the completion of the power station, it will further strengthen the integrated energy base of water, wind and solar in the Yalong River basin. This base is the first in China to create a diversified energy synergy model for water, wind, and pumped storage, integrating 30 large-scale hydropower stations, pumped storage power stations, and 40 million kilowatt level wind and solar new energy stations for joint operation.
