The morning sun shines on the coast of the Persian Gulf, and Saudi Aramco's engineering team is gazing at the lifeline connecting Juaymah and Ras Tanura on the map. For the oldest and largest refinery in Saudi Arabia, every pulsation of the pipeline is crucial to the survival of the entire complex. In order to ensure the absolute reliability of fuel gas supply, a precise surgery targeting the old pipeline network is about to begin.

Upgrading and replacing old pipeline networks

Saudi Aramco has recently officially released a tender announcement for the GART (Abu Ghraig Rastanula natural gas pipeline) transmission network. The core goal of this mission is clear and arduous: to completely replace the existing GART-22 pipeline and the abandoned GART-24 pipeline.

Contractors need to submit their proposals before June 30th to win this contract. The project will lay a brand new 24 inch pipeline with a length of 18 kilometers. This new artery will cross the Eastern Province and continuously transport associated gas and natural gas condensate from the Abu Ghraig crude oil processing facility to the Rastanula refinery, completely solving the hidden problems of the old pipeline.

Comprehensive update of supporting facilities

This is not just a simple pipeline laying, but also a comprehensive upgrade of the system. In addition to the main pipeline, the project's scope of work also extends to surface facilities. The construction party will install a complete set of modern equipment, including a cleaning device for pipeline maintenance, a pressure control valve for precise flow control, a responsive electric valve, and a high-sensitivity gas detection and sampling system.

The addition of these facilities will significantly enhance the automation level and safety factor of the pipeline network, ensuring that natural gas can safely and stably reach the destination during the 18 kilometer transportation process.

The cornerstone of refining giant

The Rastanula Refinery is not only a source of pride for Saudi Aramco, but also an indispensable part of the global energy landscape. This super complex with a daily processing capacity of up to 550000 barrels has 75 huge storage tanks with a total capacity of 5.8 million barrels, like a steel forest.keywords:Engineering infrastructure

As the only refinery in Saudi Arabia with a demulsification unit, it can convert 60000 barrels of residual oil into high-value diesel and heating oil every day, while producing 17000 barrels of nationally leading asphalt production. From a natural gas condensate plant that processes 305000 barrels per day to massive power generation facilities, every link relies heavily on stable fuel gas supply. The successful replacement of this pipeline is precisely to support this energy giant with a daily processing capacity of over one million barrels, and continue to deliver blood to Dalan and the global market.Editor/Yang Meiling
