On June 23, 2026, two joint venture new energy transmission bases with an additional 1 million kilowatts of wind power projects officially started construction in Shangdu Town, Zhenglan Banner, Xilingol League. This is a key project jointly built by local enterprises and is also a crucial step for Zhenglanqi to build a multi million kilowatt level wind solar thermal energy storage base.

The total static investment of the project is 4.085 billion yuan, with a planned wind power capacity of 1 million kilowatts and a supporting 200000 kilowatt hour energy storage system. It is expected to achieve full capacity grid connection by September 2027, and can deliver 2.3 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity to the Beijing Tianjin Tangshan region annually.

Accelerating the formation of a 10 million kilowatt level base

This project was approved in June 2025 and is another implementation of the national joint venture policies of coal and coal-fired power, and coal-fired power and new energy in the eastern region of Mongolia. Relying on the abundant wind energy resources of Xilingol League, Zhenglan Banner is accelerating the construction of a multi million kilowatt integrated energy base for wind, solar, thermal and storage.

The project combines 28 8.5MW and 77 10MW wind turbines, with large single capacity and high power generation efficiency, representing the mainstream technology direction of onshore wind power currently. The project accurately connects with the energy industry layout of Zhenglanqi during the 15th Five Year Plan period, complementing the completed and under construction thermal power and photovoltaic projects, and promoting the transformation of regional energy structure from single thermal power to multi energy synergy.

Complete the short board of external delivery in energy storage matching

The construction of a 200000 kilowatt and 800000 kilowatt hour energy storage system is the core support for ensuring stable transmission of green electricity. In recent years, the electricity load in the Beijing Tianjin Tangshan region has continued to rise, and the demand for green electricity has become increasingly urgent. However, the intermittency of wind and solar power output has always been a bottleneck for cross regional transmission. The energy storage system can absorb surplus electricity during periods of high wind power generation and release it during peak electricity consumption, effectively smoothing the output curve and improving the reliability and economy of green power transmission. This configuration also means that the project is not just a simple power generation project, but also a comprehensive energy node with regulating capabilities.

Reducing emissions and increasing income to achieve a win-win situation

After the project is put into operation, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.76 million tons per year, and at the same time increase the fiscal revenue of Zhenglan Banner by about 200 million yuan. Driven by the dual goals of carbon neutrality and local economic development, these large-scale new energy bases are becoming the main engine for Inner Mongolia's energy transformation. With the continuous deepening of the two joint venture policies, the pattern of coordinated development of wind, solar, thermal and energy storage in the eastern region of Mongolia will be further consolidated, providing more stable and clean power security for the Beijing Tianjin Tangshan region.Editor/Cheng Liting
