On the morning of June 23, 2026, Changjiang 300MW/600MWh independent new energy storage power station officially started construction in the Chahe area of Hainan Clean Energy High tech Industrial Park. This project is currently the largest grid connected energy storage power station in western Hainan, covering an area of approximately 33000 square meters. It is expected to be completed and connected to the grid by the end of this year.

After the completion of the project, it will significantly enhance the comprehensive capacity of Changjiang County's power grid for peak shaving, frequency regulation, emergency energy storage, and load guarantee, and systematically solve the bottleneck of green power consumption in western Hainan.
Fill the gap in regulating million kilowatt level bases
Relying on Changjiang Nuclear Power and large-scale wind and solar power bases, the western part of Hainan has formed a clean energy pattern of integrated wind, solar and nuclear power with a capacity of millions of kilowatts. However, the intermittency of new energy output has led to a long-term shortage of power grid regulation resources. This project is built to fill this gap.
As a grid type energy storage power station, it is different from traditional grid following energy storage and has the ability to actively support the voltage and frequency of the power grid. It can absorb surplus electricity during the large-scale development of new energy and quickly release it during peak electricity consumption, effectively smoothing out power grid fluctuations and improving the safe operation level of island power grids.
Currently, Hainan Province is accelerating the construction of a new power system. Changjiang, as the main battlefield for the construction of a clean energy island, has laid out multiple large-scale projects such as nuclear power, photovoltaics, and wind power. The landing of energy storage power stations will further improve the regional energy system.

Annual carbon dioxide emissions reduction exceeds 430000 tons
According to the project leader, the power station is expected to consume over 438 million kilowatt hours of surplus clean energy annually after completion, replace approximately 175000 tons of standard coal annually, and directly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 430000 tons. This data means that the project will not only effectively solve the problem of green electricity consumption in western Hainan, but also significantly reduce the regional carbon emission intensity.
