A batch of glass fiber industrial raw materials produced in Chongqing recently traveled south along the Western Land Sea New Corridor to Yangpu Port, and after convenient customs clearance at Hainan Free Trade Port, directly sailed to Charleston Port in the United States. Hainan Shipping and Wuhan Shipping have completed the full chain cross-border transportation, further unleashing the hub value of Yangpu Port, which connects the inland and radiates overseas.

This batch of glass fiber is a core raw material in the fields of new energy and high-end manufacturing. It departs from Chongqing and travels southward through the Western Land Sea New Channel via rail sea intermodal transportation. After arriving at Yangpu Port, it boards a ship and flies directly to Charleston Port in the United States. Hainan Shipping and Wuhan Shipping have coordinated the entire transportation plan in advance, implemented moisture-proof protection for goods, and relied on the convenient customs clearance policy of Hainan Free Trade Port to complete the entire process of manifest declaration and ship loading in one stop, greatly reducing the overall logistics efficiency.

Empowering the Western Land Sea New Corridor

The railway sea intermodal train from Chongqing to Qinzhou Port in Guangxi only takes 48 hours, which is 83% shorter than the traditional river sea intermodal transportation mode. The transportation distance has been optimized from nearly 2000 kilometers to within 1000 kilometers. As a key gateway to the western land sea new channel, Yangpu Port, with its advantages as a deep-water port and the policy dividends of Hainan Free Trade Port, has increased its container throughput capacity to 4.2 million TEUs, which can meet the demand for the world's largest 24000 container ships to dock.

The throughput of Yangpu Port has significantly increased

In 2025, the annual cargo throughput of Yangpu Port will exceed 80 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 30%; The container throughput reached 3.3 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 65%. The port has established 65 container shipping routes, covering 30 domestic and 35 foreign trade routes, and has initially built an international shipping network that takes into account both domestic and foreign trade and connects near and far seas. The number of registered ships at Yangpu Port in China has exceeded 83, with a total capacity of over 7.62 million deadweight tons, firmly ranking first among domestic free trade zones (ports). Expand the overseas channels for enterprises in the central and western regions

Next, Hainan Shipping will strengthen the Yangpu route network, optimize inland to port intermodal transportation facilities, make good use of the policy dividends of Hainan Free Trade Port, and rely on Yangpu Port to continuously expand the overseas channels for enterprises in the central and western regions. This intermodal transportation has improved the cross-border logistics layout of the Western Land Sea New Channel, opened up an efficient and stable new channel for the export of domestic industrial raw materials such as fiberglass, and helped Yangpu Port accelerate the construction of a regional foreign trade logistics core node.Editor/Cheng Liting
