Within one day, eight projects broke ground simultaneously. Three rental residences and five urban railway lines are all EPC contractors under the joint venture of Vinhomes and VinSpeed, owned by Vietnam's richest man, Pham Il wang. The 5 railway lines are part of Hanoi's 18 urban railway network planning, with a total planned mileage of approximately 979 kilometers, and are expected to be completed and delivered by 2030.

Each of the 5 routes has its own specific direction. Line 1 extends from Changxin Road to Neipai Airport, connecting the railway industrial zone and Hanoi Station; Line 2 covers the section from Neipai Airport to Minhe; Line 8 connects Hele and Yangxia; Line 10 surrounds the Dongying area; Line 14 spans from Shenglong Bridge to Jialin. All are planned according to the TOD model, with public transportation closely linked to urban comprehensive development, with a clear goal of revitalizing the land along the route and creating new urban growth poles.

Global resources are pouring into Hanoi's underground

In order to ensure the construction period, the joint venture completed the preliminary survey of each line ahead of schedule, purchased TBM tunnel excavation equipment in bulk, additionally purchased underground continuous wall excavation equipment and more than 200 sets of rotary drilling pile foundation production lines, and added thousands of slag transportation vehicles. The design team collaborates with top consulting firms from Europe, Japan, South Korea, and China, while the construction team connects with overseas contractors with international TBM qualifications. The train, control system, and safety supporting suppliers have also been synchronized and locked in.

It is worth mentioning that VinSpeed also holds two high-speed railway projects with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour: the Binh Dinh to Qinye Line in Ho Chi Minh City and the Hanoi to Guangning Line. The underground section of the former is excavated using a 13.6-meter diameter ultra large TBM, with equipment from Herrenknecht, Germany and trains manufactured by Siemens.

Vietnam's infrastructure ambitions are taking one step at a time

As the official investor, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Committee has entrusted all EPC projects to this joint venture, based on its financial strength and experience in large-scale project implementation. This is not a pancake. Keywords: Southeast Asian news, railway transportation

At present, Vietnam is accelerating the construction of the North South high-speed railway and the metropolitan area railway network. Although the specifications of the five urban railways are not as good as high-speed railways, they are numerous and have a wide coverage. After completion, they will substantially improve regional transportation interconnection. For an economy that consistently leads Southeast Asia in GDP growth, infrastructure has always been the most direct means of driving growth.Editor/Cheng Liting
