On the afternoon of June 25, 2026, the decentralized wind farm project in Zhongping Town, Weng'an County officially started construction. The site is located in Gaojian Village, Zhongping Town, Weng'an County, Qiannan Prefecture, and Taiwen Village, Jianzhong Town. The central location is only 12 kilometers away from Weng'an County in a straight line, making it another small-scale wind power project close to the load side layout in the local area.
The total installed capacity of the project is 42.45 MW, and no unified specification units are used. Instead, five 6.25 MW and two 5.6 MW hybrid tower wind turbines are matched to adapt to the wind resource conditions of different local plots. All preliminary procedures have been completed and on-site preparations are in place, directly entering the comprehensive construction phase.

Three projects share one booster station
This project does not have a separate supporting substation, but is jointly built with two other decentralized wind farms in Wengshui Street and Tianwen Town to construct a 110 kV substation with a main transformer capacity of 130 MVA. Three projects share a grid connected hub, eliminating the need for separate land acquisition and station construction. This not only saves the cost of redundant construction, but also enables unified coordination of wind power grid connection scheduling, greatly improving the efficiency of regional wind power consumption.
In the past, many decentralized wind power projects in counties were equipped with small capacity booster stations, which not only occupied more land resources, but also easily caused line congestion when connected to the grid. This time, the three projects are packaged and shared as a hub, which is equivalent to directly planning the regional wind power grid connection. In the future, small green power projects added in the surrounding area can also be directly connected to this booster station without the need to apply for a separate grid connection channel.
Close to the county load side
The site is only 12 kilometers away from the county town, and the generated electricity can be directly connected to the local distribution network without going through long-distance high-voltage transmission, supplying industrial and residential electricity to the county town nearby. This layout is perfectly suitable for the mountainous terrain of Qiannan, Guizhou. It does not require large-scale land acquisition and excavation, nor does it require large-scale renovation of long-distance transmission lines, minimizing the impact on surrounding forests and farmland. The participating units have already clarified the construction standards, and the pace of the entire project will be faster than that of centralized large bases. After the project is completed and put into use, it can not only bring stable green power increment to the local area, but also set a model for the subsequent decentralized wind power development in Qiannan. There is no need to blindly pursue large installed capacity, and the small and refined distributed layout is more suitable for the development rhythm of mountainous counties.Editor/Cheng Liting
