Based on the demand for freight development in the western land sea new channel, the first integrated green transportation demonstration project in China has landed in Guangxi. The project integrates photovoltaic energy storage and carbon sequestration systems, fills the gap in green energy supplementation for mainline heavy trucks, and creates a replicable model for the national high-speed net zero transformation.
For a long time, it has been inconvenient to replenish the energy of heavy trucks for mainline freight transportation, and the carbon emissions from highway operations are difficult to offset. On June 27th, China Energy Engineering Gezhouba Group launched the Hengqin Expressway Transportation Energy Integration Project in the Lingshan West Service Area of Qinzhou, creating the country's first fully chain zero carbon freight corridor, and synchronously supporting photovoltaic energy storage and diversified heavy truck supply facilities.

Green energy supporting facilities have been fully implemented
The project is advancing synchronously with the Hengqin Expressway, with the construction of 7.17MWp distributed photovoltaics along the line, paired with 3200kW/7524kWh energy storage and smart microgrids. Layout of fast charging, overcharging, and battery swapping facilities for heavy trucks in service areas along the route, establish a complete green energy replenishment network, and solve the problem of energy replenishment for freight vehicles. The project generates an average of 6.55 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, with a full cycle power generation of over 190 million kilowatt hours, which can meet the annual electricity needs of 95000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 40000 tons per year.

Realize net zero carbon emissions throughout the entire cycle
The project relies on forest and mangrove carbon sinks to absorb carbon, synchronously renovating buildings to reduce energy consumption, and balancing carbon emissions in both directions. Keywords: Zero Carbon Freight Corridor、Western Land Sea New Corridor
Chief Engineer Gao Kang stated that the entire plan can fully offset the carbon emissions from road operations, promote transportation infrastructure from simple emission reduction to a new stage of net zero carbon, and establish a benchmark for green freight transportation in the western land sea corridor.Editor/Min Jing
