The unit trial operation has been successfully completed

On the evening of July 1, 2026, at 18:00, the first hydroelectric generator unit of Cambodia's Shangdadai Hydropower Station successfully completed a 72 hour full load trial operation, with all operating indicators qualified and the unit running smoothly and reliably. The overseas construction team of China National Heavy Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach) has achieved excellent results in clean energy project construction and presented practical gifts for the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Carrying the heavy responsibility of energy cooperation

The power station is the core project of Sino Cambodian capacity investment for the joint construction of the the Belt and Road, and a key national energy project in Cambodia, with a total installed capacity of 150 MW and two 75 MW mixed flow units. The project aims to supply stable green electricity to Cambodia, accelerate the construction of the local modern power grid, and carry the cooperation expectation of mutual benefit and win-win between the two countries. The trial operation of the first unit has ended, representing the official transition of the project from the construction phase to the preparation phase for production.

Building an overseas green benchmark

The 72 hour full load trial operation is a key comprehensive inspection before the power station is put into operation. The unit operated without any faults throughout the entire process, and core indicators such as vibration, temperature rise, and power generation output were all better than the design requirements. The project team has achieved excellent trial operation results by coordinating the entire process of civil engineering, metal structure, mechanical and electrical installation and commissioning with refined control. After the completion of the power station, it will generate an average of 530 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, alleviate the local power supply gap, optimize the energy structure, implement the entire set of Chinese hydropower technology and construction standards, and export Chinese solutions for global green and low-carbon development.
