A revolution in speed is underway in the newly built smart city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan. The residents here may not fully realize that behind the smooth network they use in their daily lives, the country's most cutting-edge communication technology is running. As a testing ground for the country's digital transformation, Alcadada has tasted the sweetness of 5G technology and provided a practical footnote for the nationwide promotion of technology. Nowadays, this wave of technology is no longer limited to a single city, but is surging towards the economic lifeline of the entire country.

Planning blueprint setting tone

On July 6, 2026, Turkmenistan has clearly identified 5G technology as one of the core strategies for national development. According to the latest released "Turkmenistan Digital Economy Development Plan 2026-2028", the government will introduce modern information and communication systems on a large scale. This document is not only a timetable, but also a guide to action, which requires relevant departments not only to deploy hardware facilities, but also to effectively explore the collaborative potential of 5G and artificial intelligence. To this end, Turkmenistan will begin to develop a specialized national strategy for artificial intelligence, ensuring that these two key technologies can be deeply integrated and penetrated into every cell of the national economy within the next three years.

Empowering thousands of industries and businesses

The value of 5G goes far beyond just making mobile internet access faster. In the industrial field, the low latency characteristics of 5G will enable fully automated control of production lines; In the medical field, remote surgery and high-definition consultations will become the norm; In the field of education, holographic projection teaching will break through geographical limitations. The realization of all this depends on the strong ability of 5G network to support thousands of devices to access high-speed Internet at the same time. Through advanced digital systems, enterprises and management departments can optimize process management in real-time, improve software operating efficiency, significantly reduce operating costs, and enhance service quality.

Strong talent foundation and solid foundation

The implementation of technology cannot be separated from human operation. In order to ensure that the 5G strategy does not become a castle in the air, Turkmenistan has made the cultivation of professional talents a top priority. At present, the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Communications are taking the lead in conducting in-depth research and application testing of 5G network functions, and undertaking the function of technology incubation. At the same time, the national level has launched a normalized talent and skill improvement plan, aiming to cultivate a group of composite talents who understand both communication technology and industry applications. This closed-loop promotion from top-level design to grassroots implementation will build a solid talent foundation for Turkmenistan's digital economy.Editor/Yang Meiling
