In the desert heat wave, the conveyor belt at Abu Dhabi Port roared again, sending snow-white alumina into the electrolysis workshop; At the same time, in the newly built factories on the edge of the Southeast Asian rainforest, the first fiery red primary aluminum liquid slowly flowed out. The gears of the global aluminum supply chain are quietly completing a cross continental bite and reset.
Aluminum oxide production line resumes production
On July 10, 2026, Emirates Global Aluminum announced the resumption of production at the Abu Dhabi Atavira alumina refinery. This factory is located in the Khalifa Economic Zone, adjacent to the company's own electrolytic aluminum smelting base. The produced alumina can be directly transported to the smelting workshop for storage.
The alumina plant will produce 2.4 million tons of alumina annually in 2025, but the entire line will be shut down due to the impact of the attack on March 28, 2026. On July 10, 2026, the production line for finished alumina products in the factory area officially resumed work. According to official sources, the production capacity can be restored to 50% of the design standard in just a few days, and the factory will have full production conditions by the end of 2026. The subsequent increase in production speed depends on the stability of the supply chain and the alumina procurement plan.

Gradual maintenance of electrolytic aluminum device
On July 2, 2026, the company updated the repair progress, and all 1262 electrolytic cells at Atavira Aluminum Plant had completed the anode removal work; 90% of the electrolytic cells have been cleaned of the internal electrolyte; More than 20% of the electrolytic cells empty the solidified aluminum material in the tank. On May 26th, the first electrolytic cell restarted operation, and the current number of production tanks has reached 89; On May 4th, the factory produced the first batch of cast aluminum products, and the solid aluminum material obtained through continuous melting and cleaning is currently being processed. The company originally estimated that it would take a whole year to resume full production, but is currently accelerating construction to shorten the repair time. New aluminum production in Southeast Asia has landed
On July 10, 2026, Vietnam's Duonong Electrolytic Aluminum Plant successfully produced the first batch of primary aluminum. The first phase of the project has an annual output of 150000 tons and will be officially put into operation in August; The second phase expansion will be completed in November 2026, with a total production capacity of 300000 tons; By February 2027, the project will be fully operational with an overall production capacity of 450000 tons. Vietnam has achieved self-sufficiency in aluminum production, leading to a simultaneous reduction in local demand for spot imports. The market changes brought about by the repair of supply in the Middle East and the production of new production capacity in Southeast Asia require continuous observation of the progress of electrolytic cell repair in the Middle East and the actual pace of production capacity deployment in Southeast Asia.Editor/Gong Ziwei
