Shanghai has officially entered the main flood season, with frequent meteorological disasters such as typhoons and heavy rainfall, and the pressure of urban flood prevention and drainage continues to rise. In the critical stage of tackling difficulties, the seven key water conservancy projects under SCG have completed centralized acceptance and been put into practical operation, filling the gaps in urban water conservancy at multiple points and laying a solid engineering foundation for Shanghai's overall flood prevention and security.

Implementation of hub projects

The multiple projects accepted and put into use this time cover core areas such as Qingpu, Minhang, and Pudong in Shanghai, covering various types such as shipping hubs, embankment upgrades, sluice reconstruction, and ecological restoration. As the largest water conservancy hub on the Qingsong Grand Control Line, the Youdun Port Navigation Hub Control Sluice has the ability to accommodate ships of up to 1000 tons and provide strong flood control and drainage capabilities, comprehensively safeguarding the flood prevention safety of the Qingsong area. The core water conservancy facilities along the Huangpu River, such as Yangsi Hub and Laosanlin Port Sluice, have been renovated and upgraded, optimizing the dispatching capacity of entrances along the Huangpu River and effectively improving the flood control, drainage, and water resource allocation level in the central urban area.

Rise in embankment energy level

Embankment reinforcement, new flood control roads and other construction contents have been completed for the embankment upgrading project in the middle and upper reaches of the Huangpu River, which has successfully passed the water acceptance, effectively eliminated the hidden dangers of embankment operation, and further improved the flood control system in the the Taihu Lake Lake basin. The Dianshan Lake embankment meets the standard and the shoreline ecological restoration project is fully completed, achieving the upgrading of the lake surrounding embankment to meet the standard, synchronously completing the shoreline ecological governance, and balancing flood prevention safety and ecological quality improvement. The landing and operation of multiple embankment projects have systematically improved the flood control carrying capacity of Shanghai's riverside and lake areas.

Improving the quality of Minsheng water gates

In response to the old and weak regional water conservancy facilities, Shanghai Construction Engineering has completed multiple livelihood water conservancy renovation projects such as the Cherry River pump gate and Youbang water gate. Through refined construction such as updating pump and gate equipment, reinforcing walls, rebuilding structures, and dredging rivers, the shortcomings of water conservancy infrastructure in Minhang and Qingpu areas have been addressed. Keywords: water conservancy engineering, urban flood control

The renovated water gate pump facilities operate more stably and can efficiently cope with the flood control pressure caused by high tide and heavy rainfall during the flood season, effectively activate the regional water system, and achieve multiple benefits such as flood control and disaster reduction, smooth flow of live water, and ecological improvement. The seven major projects will be put into operation simultaneously, and the Shanghai urban flood prevention network will be fully integrated to ensure the safe and stable operation of the city during the flood season.Editor/Min Jing
