The border area between Sichuan and Guizhou has been short of direct freight railway for a long time, and the outward transportation of regional minerals, Baijiu and agricultural special products is limited, and the transportation cost remains high. With the approval of the proposal for the Dacun Zunyi Railway project by the National Development and Reform Commission, this transportation gap will be filled, and the development of regional logistics will usher in a new turning point.

Project Overview

The total investment for the newly-built Dacun Zunyi Railway is 19.084 billion yuan, with a total length of 139.85 kilometers. It is a national second-class single track electrified freight railway with a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and passenger transportation conditions can be reserved in the long term. The railway starts from Dacun Station in Gulin County, Sichuan Province in the north and ends at Gelaobanan Station in Zunyi, Guizhou Province in the south. Six new stations will be built and two connecting stations will be renovated along the entire line. This project is included in the national 14th Five Year Plan for railway development and the construction plan for the Western Land Sea New Corridor transportation. The feasibility study report has been reviewed and entered the approval process. It is planned to start construction in 2026 and is expected to commence before the end of the year.

The Dazhun Railway is the core connecting line between the central and western lines of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, connecting four regional conventional railways, linking key areas of Sichuan and Guizhou, and opening up the shortest freight route from southern Sichuan to the Beibu Gulf.
