On July 15, 2026, the EPC bidding for the Ruoqiang 200MW/800MWh grid type energy storage project was launched, with self raised funds of 700 million yuan and synchronous disclosure of 160 battery compartment configurations. After the 500000 kilowatt energy storage project of China Green Power was put into operation in January, Ruoqiang New Energy Matrix has added another key piece of puzzle.

Technical solution for grid based energy storage
The project adopts lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage, using 314Ah battery cells and 1P416S battery clusters with a capacity of 418kWh per cluster. Every 12 clusters form one 20 foot energy storage battery compartment, with a single compartment capacity of approximately 5016kWh. Every 4 battery compartments are equipped with 1 5MW converter and boost integrated compartment, and the entire station is equipped with 40 5MW converter and boost integrated compartments and 160 5MWh battery compartments. The energy storage system is connected to the newly built 220kV substation through 8 35kV collection lines, and then sent to the Ruoqiang 750kV substation through 1 220kV line. The 220kV transmission line is not within the scope of this bidding.
The project has self raised funds of 700 million yuan, and the planned construction period has not been disclosed yet. However, the bidding announcement specifies the qualification requirements for bidders: they must have a first-class or above qualification for general contracting of power engineering construction, a comprehensive first-class qualification for engineering design, or a first-class qualification in the power industry, and have completed at least one 100MW/200MWh or above energy storage project in the past three years.

The energy storage density of Ruoqiang is increasing
The development of new energy in Ruoqiang County is progressing rapidly. As of now, the total installed capacity of new energy in operation and under construction in the county has reached 17.8145 million kilowatts, including 8.605 million kilowatts of grid connected installed capacity and over one million kilowatts of energy storage installed capacity. In January 2026, the China Green Power Ruoqiang 500000 kW/2 million kWh energy storage project was officially put into operation, taking only three months from start to first grid connection.
