Looking north from the lush rainforest on the east coast of Malaysia, a steel dragon is attempting to cross national borders. Recently, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with Thai Prime Minister Anuntin and officially finalized the plan to extend the East Coast Railway northward to Thailand. This stroke not only connects the railway tracks of the two countries, but also outlines a new logistics map in the hinterland of ASEAN, awakening the dormant trade potential at the border.

Cross border extension plan finalized
The leaders of Malaysia and Thailand have reached a consensus to extend the East Coast Railway from Kelantan State Road North Station to Rangdoubanjang and further connect with the Thai railway network. At present, the extension proposal has been submitted to the Malaysian Ministry of Transport for consultation with the Thai side on technical standards and construction timeline. This move marks a crucial step towards international connectivity for Malaysia's 665 kilometer flagship project.

Double Bridge Linkage Smooth Port
To coordinate with the railway extension, the two countries plan to construct the second cross-border bridge connecting Langdouban to the Gol River in Thailand, and improve the border transportation network. Both sides will simultaneously optimize the customs clearance process and promote the construction of border economic zones. The new railway line and cross-border bridge will form a dual channel linkage effect, effectively solving the problem of saturated and congested port capacity, and greatly improving the convenience of personnel and cargo transportation. Activate the potential of border trade
Thailand is China's second largest trading partner in ASEAN, and the bilateral economic and trade between Malaysia and Thailand is steadily growing. The infrastructure connection this time will directly serve the border economic zones of the two countries, covering key nodes such as Shadao, Heimu Mountain, and Langdoubanrang. By building more efficient railway logistics channels, Malaysia's agricultural and manufacturing products will be able to enter the ASEAN market at lower costs, unleashing the untapped trillion dollar trade dividend.Editor/Gao Xue
