On July 16, 2026, in the main control room of Dushanzi Petrochemical Tarim Phase II Ethylene Project in Korla Shangku Industrial Park on the edge of the Tarim Basin, the operator pressed the last instruction, and the cracking furnace heated steadily, and the product indicators were all up to standard. At this moment, China's first full chain green low-carbon ethylene project has officially entered normal production operation from the trial stage. This super factory with a total investment of 25.656 billion yuan and covering an area of 309 hectares not only increases the total ethylene production capacity of Dushanzi Petrochemical to 3.2 million tons per year, but also paves a new path for deep decarbonization in the domestic refining industry with a complete low-carbon technology system.

Green power direct supply reconstruction energy supply mode
The project deeply links the photovoltaic resources of Tarim Oilfield, builds a new energy supply model that couples photovoltaic energy with chemical production, consumes 1 billion kilowatt hours of clean green electricity annually, replaces traditional thermal power, and reduces carbon emissions by over 800000 tons annually. Through the direct connection and use of clean energy, decarbonization of production is achieved from the source of energy supply, providing mature implementation cases for the large-scale application of green electricity in domestic refining projects.

Carbon capture and electric drive dual track carbon reduction
The project adopts independently developed ultra-low concentration carbon dioxide integrated machine capture technology to achieve efficient capture and recycling of carbon dioxide from cracking flue gas, reducing 1.37 million tons of carbon annually and achieving carbon sequestration equivalent to 5.48 million acres of forest land annually. At the same time, the electric drive transformation of the three core compression units for ethylene has been completed, upgrading the traditional steam drive to electric direct drive. The domestic equipment rate is as high as 99%
Among the 11 main production units of the project, 10 adopt domestic independent technology, 9 apply China Petroleum's independently developed technology, and 5 technologies are industrialized and scaled up for the first time. The overall equipment localization rate has reached 99%, and the ethylene main unit and key units have achieved 100% localization matching.
